What benefits does the US government offer to people with low vision?

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are available if you meet the following definition of blind: your better eye cannot be improved better than 20/200. If you do not meet that definition, you may still qualify if your vision problems alone, or combined with other health problems, prevent you from working.
