Camp Grizzly Youth Leadership Camp
Camp Grizzly, sponsored by NorCal Services for Deaf & Hard of Hearing offers a week-long Youth Leadership program dedicated toward enriching the lives of America‚ Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Siblings and Koda youth, ages 7-18, through leadership activities, building self-esteem, celebrating cultural pride and sign language, while providing memories to last a lifetime in a FUN and SAFE environment. Camp Grizzly is located at the ACA approved Camp Lodestar facility located in Wilseyville, CA, about an hour and half south east from Sacramento, CA.
All Campers and CITs participate in various activities that develop their life skills ie: communication, problem solving, team building techniques, supporting their identity awareness and increased self-esteem. All Staff mentors provide the linguistic and cultural support and guidance throughout the week in a space that is designed to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of every camper/CIT.
Hands-on training and participation of recreational, cultural and educational activities including: swimming, archery, hiking, basketball, volleyball, teambuilding games, ropes course, arts & crafts, Drama, ASL Games, Deaf Culture/Heritage, health and safety. Evening activities include Campfire, Scavenger hunt, Talent show, Dance, Guest Speakers/Performers, and Awards Ceremony where all campers and CITs are recognized for their accomplishments.
