Deafblind

Around 0.2% of the world’s population is living with severe hearing loss and vision loss (Deaf-Blind individuals), and it's estimated that 2% of the world’s population live with ‘milder forms’ of this condition. Like all disabilities, both can be experienced on a spectrum and include people with any combination of vision and hearing loss. Some individuals with the most severe vision loss benefit from mobility assistance (service animals, canes, etc.) while others may simply need to have things closer in their visual field and require less mobility assistance. The same spectrum exists for the degree of hearing loss from those who are hard of hearing and perhaps benefit from hearing aids to those who are profoundly deaf. Barriers to access communication and information are common and can be complex for people in this community.
